Lesson learned.

Ok, I have a very dear friend who has been my "voice of reason" for many years now. I can't even begin to write all the things she's taught me. Anyway, the latest "lesson" was one I should have learned long long ago, but obviously didn't.

Lesson...
Only I can make MY decisions. Only I can choose to feel the way I do. Others may TRY to make me mad, happy, sad, excited etc, but ultimately, it's all up to me to decide HOW I feel. It's also up to me to decide, after getting advice, (asked for or not) how to act on something. Someone can TRY to upset me, BUT I can choose to be happy instead & not let it bother me. I learned that for someone else to "decide" how I feel, is actually, giving THEM control over my life!

I'm done, I'm NOT doing that anymore. I AM TAKING CONTROL OF MY LIFE!!!

It took me 36 years, but I'm ready. I also figure, better late than never!

A new day, A better day!

Ok, after the yucky day I had yesterday (can I just tell you how much I HATE deceptive people?!) I decided that today just HAD to be better!!!

First off, I am so NOT a morning person! I rarely go to bed before midnight (I actually made it by 1/2 hour last night) & need to be up between 6 & 6:30. If I had my way, I would get up with the older 2 boys & then go back to bed for an hour or two. Anyway, seeing as how I have 2 younger kiddos, that isn't an option. So... as I was up this morning & the house was quiet, (Bonez had just left & C was still upstairs getting ready for school), I decided I needed to make good use of my time & instead of jumping on here, I got out my favorite exercise DVD (time out, can those 2 words even go together in a sentence?!). I even rummaged in the garage & found my big green ball so I could use that. So... at 7:30 this morning, I worked out, I still can't believe it! Unfortunately, I could only find 1 of my weights, so I had to kind of change things up a bit, but I made it work.

I'm still tired & still totally wanting to go break open a bag of chocolate covered pretzels, but I'm showing restraint at this point. (I figured the least I could do was wait until 9 LOL).

Anyway, I'm bound & determined to make this a better day. I have lots to do, so maybe keeping busy will help, at least that's what I'm telling myself!

Have yourself a great day!

AAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Thanks, I needed to get that out! I seriously didn't think this day could get any worse... boy was I wrong!

Okay, I know I promised pics from this weekend, I still haven't had a chance to get them from my camera to my computer, I'll try tomorrow, I'm way to frustrated to try right now.

Anyway, I'm REALLY hoping tomorrow is a better day!

We survived!!!

I'll post pics later, assuming they turned out, I haven't even checked yet. Anyway, after a crummy start to the weekend, it ended up pretty darn good. We went to church yesterday... in the SNOW! Still not sure what the heck that was about, but I do have to say that I believe that's the FIRST time I've EVER celebrated my b day when it was SNOWING! We came home & had a yummy lunch/dinner that was in the crockpot, cleaned that up & then the party started.

Prince Charming's family was here & it was very laid back & fun. Poor C, Bonez opened his gift from g ma & Blanco's first & got a new Kobe AllStar jersey (e was BEYOND thrilled), then it was C's turn. You could tell he was extremely disappointed, he just kept saying "Ummm, cool checkers board..." He was totally confused & trying not to cry. I knew what was going on, so quietly tried to show him the rest of the "checkers" board... it was a COOL (& expensive) Medieval CHESS set, (the pieces were all hidden underneath the board though, so he couldn't see them). Once he realized what it was, he was TOTALLY STOKED! He's our chess player, & takes after Daddy. Infact, Daddy helped pick this out & thought it would be something they could do together. C will get the rest of his gift tomorrow, it's a glass top table that has dragons on it that match the set & both will go in his room.

The boys had hockey practice last night, so I didn't get my stuff until after they all got home, which was all fine. HOLY COW, M did more than I expected. He's so good!

Anyway, it turned out to be a good weekend. Even though I'm still bummed my parent's couldn't be here, after hearing how horrific the pass was, I'm SO glad they stayed home & were safe.

I'll post pics once I get them off my camera.

Birthday weekend...

Well, I got the house all clean before I went to bed last night. I was SO looking forward to waking up this morning, knowing mom & dad would already be on their way. YAY! I have SO been looking forward to this weekend. I knew that even though I was going to have to "share" MY day with 3 of my kids for their family party, mom would make it a special day for me. We had all these great fun plans for today... shopping, scrapping/cardmaking, shopping, a movie, shopping, she was going to teach me to sew, oh, & did I mention, we were going to go shopping too. Yeah, I was EXCITED!!! With Prince Charming gone almost every weekend, I REALLY was needing a break & this was going to be "IT" for me.

So... at 8:31 my phone rings, it's dad's cell. Cool, I'm wondering where they are, knowing he's just checking in & giving me their EAT (estimated arrival time). Ummm... WRONG! He was calling from HOME! They decided not to come!!! The pass was bad & getting worse because we freakin got SNOW. At first I didn't believe him because anyone that knows my dad knows he is the world's biggest jokester. Well, he wasn't joking, he was totally serious. I hung up the phone before he knew I was crying. I crawled back into bed & cried. (Ok, truth be told, I wasn't just crying, I was sobbing!) I was so beyond disappointed. Now, don't get me wrong & don't judge me & think I'm heartless & selfish. I would have felt HORRIBLE had they decided to come & something happened to them. I was more upset because this was something for ME, the first thing in a really long time that was just for me to look forward to.

Poor DH, (that's dear hubby for those of you that don't speak SS) he tried so hard, he really did, but he just didn't "get" it. He must have realized I was not in the mood to deal with the boys because the next thing I knew, he took all 3 of them to go get the oil changed in his car?! Ummm, ok, whatever!

When they got back, we all went out to lunch, (I won't bore you with the details, but it was pretty comical). Anyway, I took off & ran to Target after that, in a "popcorn" storm even! That's what M calls it, it wasn't really hail, but not rain or snow either, just little white snow "balls" that looks like the stuff you fill a bean bag with. Ok, so I come home to the guys over here for band practice. They finally left & DH & I left to go to a super cool theater here that I love. The plan was to have B stay here with the other kids while we went to dinner & a movie. Well, we tried to see a movie, but it was full so we went to Red Robin instead.

I really do have an awesome DH! He was so sweet today, trying to "make it up to me". Anyway, I'm outta here, my eyes burn & I have a headache from crying so much this morning. Tomorrow is another day!

Oh yeah, thanks Melissa & Desi, & Kris too for not forgetting about me! :) I love you guys!!!

Princess Tornado is a Girly Girl!

Ok, I pride myself on my DD's hair. Well, I think it came back to bite me in the butt... We were getting ready to leave the house, Chayli had been upstairs playing, I walked upstairs & literally was stopped in my tracks! I got to the top of the stairs, & here comes my little Princess, (I had JUST changed her clothes)...

Photobucket

She got into some chocolate covered pretzels &... a can of hairspray!!!

Photobucket

The "wet" stuff on her shirt... an ENTIRE can of hairspray! Her hair was literally dripping it was so wet! How she was managing to even get a comb in it is amazing!

Needless to say, I couldn't get her in the tub fast enough (after I grabbed the camera of course), her hair was such a matted mess, I had to break the rubber bands & wash her hair twice. 2 days later, it STILL feels & smells weird!!!

I think I've created a monster, what do you think?! LOL

(Yes, I know the rubberbands don't match, I was planning on redoing her hair before we left & putting in green, but I was NOT planning on the bath!)

I've been rejected!!!

Ok, I signed up to give blood today. I HATE needles, but feel this is something I can & should do, so I signed up. I went for the first time in January; Holy cow, I was so sick for 3 days I swore I would never do it again. Well, sign ups came around again so I decided I would try 1 more time. Okay, I made sure today to drink lots of water & to actually eat something (I didn't do either last time). I head on down to the church & they poke my finger to check my iron level. Once again, it doesn't "sink" fast enough so the lady had to "spin" me. She came back & told me that I couldn't give blood today because my iron was too low. It was too low by ONE POINT; 1 point, can you believe it?! Anyway, I walked out of there with my head down, totally embarrassed & hoping no one would see me that I knew. I can't believe it, I WAS REJECTED! They didn't want my blood! That's fine, I didn't really want to give it anyway!

I didn't want to feel down too long, so I came home, picked up 2 of the kids & headed off to Cold Stone. Alls good with the world now.

Blog Challenge, Act your age...

If you could go back to any age again, how old would you want to be and why? What age would you least like to be and why?

Man, I had to really think about this one, it was hard. I finally came up with an answer though. If I could go back to any age, I would choose 23. Why? Because I had just "remet" Mike & we got engaged a few weeks after my b day. We were so in love, we had our whole lives to begin & look forward to. We didn't have any kids yet (obviously) & everything was "perfect", no cares in the world type of thing. Mike drove the coolest sports car, we owned a house (well, he did anyway), we were so... happy. (We still are, we just now have 4 kids & life is totally different, great, just different).

What age would I least like to be & why? Hmmm, I'm going to say 17. I had just gone off to college in a different state & got the dreaded phone call that really changed my life. My dad had had a major heart attack & they didn't think he was going to make it. I was flown home (I had NEVER even been on a plane before) so I could say my goodbyes. I had never been so scared in my life. Pops is now fine, he's beaten all the odds & is here & as ornery as ever LOL! He is seriously the World's Greatest Papa, & a pretty great Dad too! :)

The birthday "cake"...

Photobucket
Princess Tornado would NOT touch the cupcake with her hands at all.  BUT she felt it was just great to just put her whole face into it.  Hey, whatever works I guess!
Photobucket
She finally decided it was ok to "kind of" pick it up & eat.  Man, this girl is hilarious!

Happy Birthday my little Princess, I hope you had as much fun as we did.

My baby is 2!!!

Ok, I just need to vent for a sec, why is it that friends (well, okay, 1 friend in particular) makes sure that she calls to wish my baby a Happy Birthday, yet family members don't get around to it?!  Sorry, but that REALLY irritates the heck out of me.  Goldfish, this is SO NOT about you this time.;)  Okay, back to your regularly scheduled program...

Photobucket
You can't have a birthday without some kind of attitude!
Photobucket
She was so excited to open her Strawberry Shortcake baby.
Photobucket
Look at this angel girl.  She had been "helping" Mommy bake the cupcakes.

Pics from yesterday...

Photobucket
Princess Tornado just hangin out.
Photobucket
These 2 had SO much fun playing outside "unsupervised", it was hilarious to watch them.
Photobucket
This was really the first time the girls have played together, man I wish we lived closer again.  It will be so much fun to watch the 3 little girls as they get older watch their relationship bloom.

Today was a VERY cool day!

Ok, I got a call at 9 last night from my mom saying that she, along with my sister's family of 7 would be here for Bonez' big day today.  I should expect them sometime this morning before church.  Within 5 minutes of that phone call, I found out Mike was stuck & stranded on the pass about 1 hour from home.  J's car had broken down, they couldn't get cell coverage to last.  UGH! Shelly was on her way to go pick them all up, but he would be REALLY late getting home.  Ok, I was BEYOND stressed & overwhelmed at this point.  I had SOOO much to do.

Ok, I got as much done as I could without killing myself & headed off to bed at 12:30.

Goldfish's family showed up right before church & we headed off.  How cool is was to walk in & also see Mike's parent's sitting there.  All this family just here to support Bonez!  Ok, B just turned 12 & today he was ordained to the office of a Deacon.  I know that means nothing to some of you, but to us "Mormon's", it's a pretty big deal!  Anyway, it was really neat & I'm so glad that our families are so supportive!!!

We came back here & my mom, sister & I made Mom's homemade tacos, talk about a YUMMY lunch.  Goldfish also made brownies.  The kids all played, I got some great pics of Princess playing with Adrie (who is 10 months older than C) outside in the backyard.  The boys had a blast hanging out.  I really wished we lived closer to Goldfish, the kids have so much fun hanging out together.

Ok, off to get things ready for Princess Tornado's big day tomorrow, my little girl is turning 2, I can't believe it!

Next step of the blog challenge...

Ok, since I was so sick yesterday, I didn't write anything, sorry.  I'll see if I can come up with some "fun" answers for today.  Oh, & I still need to download my pics from the hockey tourney, my camera is still in the bag sitting on the stairs.  Hopefully I can get to that later today, don't hold your breath waiting though.

Here goes...
4. You'll never see me... not do something to C's hair!  Ok, since that was way to obvious, I'll give a real answer.  I will never deny my beliefs, or the church.  I also will never leave my family.

5. A childhood memory that I love.... wow, there are SO many... The first that came to mind was going as a family to the Rhododendron Gardens.  We would go walk around, feed the ducks, throw a ball around, sometimes we would even take a picnic & sit in the big field & eat.  I LOVED going there.  It was close to where we lived, right in the city, but you felt like you were in the middle of Heaven.  We had so much fun there, the memories are so strong, I can even smell the flowers.
Another I have to say, if only because I think Goldfish will get a kick out of this... I must have been around 7 or 8, we were waiting for our babysitter to come over & Beck & I dressed up Bry as a girl.  We put him in one of our silky nightgowns, (it was white with little blue flowers on it), we tried to do his hair (see, I've always been this obsessed with hair!) we then put him in the driveway & told him he couldn't come in the house.  We even started calling him Betty.  Man, poor thing, we must have traumatized him & he was little, like around 2 or 3.  We did let him come in once the sitter got there, that was pretty nice of us I thought!

6. 2 things I do every single day...  Princess Tornado's hair (duh, like you didn't see that coming)  & check out SS.  ( I also take a shower & brush my teeth, just in case you were wondering).

7. Happiest moment of 2008 so far... Hmmm, this one is hard.  Let's see... ok, sorry Sherry, I'm going to kind of cheat on this one & combine some things.  I LOVE watching my kids play sports, absolutely LOVE it.  I also love seeing them give everything they have, doing something they love & are good at.  This last weekend at the hockey tourney was GREAT, all 3 boys played so well & had a lot of fun too, it really made me proud.  I love that hockey is something our whole family can enjoy together.  The other thing I'm "combining" is another "family activity".  Watching the "boys" play Rock Band all together, it just makes me happy inside to see them "connecting" with daddy!

Ok, I think that's enough for now.  I'll add more tomorrow.

4) You'll never see me:
5) A childhood memory that I love:

I'm only going to answer a few each day.

Let's see...
Right now I want... to have enough $ to cover our bills & be able to get Princess something else for her b day.

I wish I knew how to... sew.  I wish my mom lived closer so she could teach me, I would love to be able to sew the Princess some cute clothes.

When I want to indulge myself, I... read a good book, or scrap all by myself!

Stay tuned for more answers tomorrow!

Hockey tournament...

Ok, I didn't fall off the face of the earth, the boys had their first hockey tourney of the season.  We left here Friday after school & stayed with my mom. (Hey, can't be free lodging & yummy food! :)) Prince Charming dropped the kids & I off & he headed to the rink.  I got the kids in bed because we had a 6am game on Sat morning.  UGH!

We spent the ENTIRE day at the rink on Sat.  Bonez had 2 games, C had 3 & D played 2.  Sunday brought another early game so Mike & B got up & went to that & I stayed with the other kids so they could sleep.  We headed back up there & my sis came to watch.  That was so much fun, I haven't seen her since before Christmas.  She has been totally working at losing weight & just getting healthy, she also got her hair cut & looked GREAT!  Anyway, B did great, they won their first game Sun morning, but lost the last game.  They played the Idaho team that is amazing & undefeated.  The cool part about that though, is our team has scored the most on them.  Ok, back to D's team... in Saturday's game, he scored the tying goal (we went on to win that game) & then in the championship game, he scored the winning point.  It is so funny to see him out there going against the big kids, I swear the child has NO FEAR!  Crazy boy!

C did great too, he ended up playing goalie because our regular goalie is in Hawaii, even though we lost each game in his division, he had some incredible saves.

D's 8u team is undefeated, they are a great group of kids & the cool thing about his team is that they all get to play together for the next 2 years too since they are all so young.  They already dominate their age division, it's going to be nice to see them after they've all been playing for so long together!  They got cool "golden" trophies, I took tons of pics, but haven't downloaded them yet.  I'll do that & post them later today.

Anyway, this is long so I'm going to sign off for now, but wanted you to know that yes, I'm still around & I haven't forgotten about my blog.

Time flies when you're having fun.

PhotobucketI LOVE this picture of D!  He had just gotten ready for school & I decided he looked so cute & needed to snap some pics.  Lucky guy! ;)

Ok, so I'm getting a hard time from my sis because I haven't been updating daily like I had been. Sorry, things have been busy; Well, and boring too.  The boys had hockey practice again last night, trying to get ready for their first tourney of the season this weekend.  We're headed to Portland tomorrow after school, I can't wait!

Oh, D will be going to a new school next year, it's being built & will be open literally 2 weeks before school starts.  C will stay at the "old school" to finish out 5th grade, but D is SO excited. We've been watching it come along, I can't wait to walk through & see it completed.  Anyway, I went to a meeting with the new Principal & am really looking forward to this new adventure. In fact, I signed up to be on the PTA board AND, if that wasn't enough, I also signed up to be on the site council for the new school.  Am I crazy or what?!  (Ok, really, you DON'T have to answer that!!!).

Oh yeah, Bonez went to his first night of "mutual" (YM) last night, (it was a combined activity so the girls were there too) he had so much fun, they went on a scavenger hunt to member's houses.  Each team started out with a penny, each house they went to, they had to trade it for something better.  A group came here & we traded a purple candle for a new jar of PB (I even gave them Skippy, instead of store brand!).  I showed up to pick B up as they were doing the awards, one of the teams showed up with a big ol chair & ottoman.  Another traded "up" for a little girl!!!  It was hilarious to see what they all came up with.  They all had so much fun.

Ok, I think that's about it for now.
