Tarantulas for dinner?!

Bubby kept asking if he could have more tarantulas for dinner.  It took me a while to figure out what he meant.  Our convo went something like this:

Bubby: Mom, can I have some more tarantulas?
Me:  Can you have some more WHAT?!
Bubby: Tarantulas, can I have some more?
Me: You want more WHAT?!
Bubby: Tarantulas, you know, those yummy things you gave me that I really liked?  Are there any left & can I have some?
Me: Oh, yeah, there are some left, you can have them after you eat your chicken.

At this point, we had all caught on & were laughing so hard!

It was SO cute, it didn't matter how many times we corrected him, he called them tarantulas.  SO, what are "TARANTULAS" you ask?  Well...  let's see, they are small, they are orange with white "veins" running through them, & they are super yummy...

So, yes, I guess I feed my family tarantulas for dinner!  I may try these again, they were such a big hit here, laughs & all!

And here, I thought I had the pickiest eaters ever LOL!  I'm tellin ya, this child cracks us up constantly, I think we'll keep him around.  Hmmm, wonder what he'll call the spaghetti we're having tomorrow night...  bloody worms maybe?!

WHOO-HOO Western Conference CHAMPS!!!

Talk about an exciting game!!!  We pulled it off & are now the Western Conference CHAMPIONS!!!  We're still waiting to see who we will face... the Detroit Pistons, or the Boston Celtics.

Sorry Des, but you're gonna have to deal with those flags a bit longer LOL.  Feel free to call CPS, but ya know something, Princess Laker was good luck tonight!!!

WHOO-HOO, Keep it up Lakers!!!  We're so proud of you!

Laker Princess...

Ok, this is for you Des!  I decided that since tonight is hopefully the last game against the Spurs, we would get the Princess all decked out in her Laker gear.

I have dinner in the oven & we're gonna sit back & watch the game, I've been looking forward to this all day long.  I can't wait!!!  My kids HATE watching the game with me, I get all worked up & feel like I'm there, I start cheering & clapping, they just roll their eyes & laugh at me.  Pretty funny seeing how their dad is right next to me SCREAMING at the refs & pretending HE'S Phil Jackson!  They seem to think THAT'S okay...Whatever, it's fun & it's something we do as a family.

Anyway, just wanted Desi to know that when I got Princess dressed & did her "Laker Crown", I was thinking of you & your hatred of THE BEST TEAM EVER!!!  Flags & all!  You do know that if we had those flags that you insist on running over, they would be on our cars, right, but I promise you, we wouldn't let ours fall off!!! LOL

Off to watch opening tip off.

Go Lakers!!!

My weekend...

Ok, I just tried uploading a bunch of pics to share & well, I'm not sure where they went, but they aren't here. I'm not taking the time to try again, so I guess we'll go pictureless this time.  Hey, I don't know what happened, but here they are!  Whoo-Hoo!

Ok, so Friday, I picked B up from school & we headed out of town. We went & surprised my mom. That was COOL! She had no idea we were going. Hee hee, I loved it! Ok, so we hung out there for a few, then headed to my sister's. She even cut her date with her hubby early for me, isn't she great?! We had fun, just hangin out & letting the kids play. She has 5 kids, the oldest a boy, the rest are all girls.  YIKES!  Luckily, they're all great kids.  Anyway, her youngest 2 stairstep with my Princess & they don't get to play very often, but when they do, they have a blast!  Her girls taught C the "proper" way to get from the top of the stairs to the bottom, by sliding of course!  I got pics, but didn't upload those, sorry, but man, it was HILARIOUS!!!  C also kept cruisin around the house in the "cozy coupe", Adrie wanted a ride too. LOL  man, this little girl cracks me up!!!

Ok, fast forward to Sat.  Goldfish had a class & her hubby took the boys to go clean the church, that left me with 4 of the girls, I got the "baby" dressed, (she does NOT like me btw), & the most, I don't know... shocking maybe, thing happened, Alia (she's 8) asked me to do her hair!!!  Ok, this is HUGE, it's a big joke, they NEVER ask me to do their hair, & well, now that I have C, I've given up even asking to do theirs.  Anyway, I ended up doing 4 out of 5 girls' hair, I was in HEAVEN let me tell ya!  Ok, Mike took the boys (well, probably the entire neighborhood actually) out to play baseball, Beck & I stayed in & watched, they all had so much fun.  It was neat to see Bonez having so much fun with his cousin & his friends.  Ok, let me explain real quick... Conner is the same age as my #2, so Bonez doesn't really usually do much with Conner. This weekend happened just for Conner & Bonez.  Ok, so Mike took the boys & headed to the game... Goldfish & I loaded up all the girls & headed to the zoo.

HOLY COW!  Let's just say, we were EXHAUSTED by the end of the day, (ok, truth be told, we were exhausted within 15 minutes of being there).  You see, Adrie & Caile REFUSE to stay in a stroller, have YOU ever been at a zoo with 50 million other people & tried to keep track of 2 kids under 3, along with 3 other kids?!  YIKES!  I'm still not sure how we managed to not lose anyone (at least for too long).  It was CRAZY!!!  I felt bad for even bringing up the idea to Goldfish, she was a trooper to even consider going along with it for me.  The kids had fun so I guess that's all that matters.  They are doing a big dino exhibit, that was really neat, except the big guy up there, holy cow, Princess was TERRIFIED of him!  Ok, I do have to admit, he's lifesize (well, assuming that's how big they were way back when) & he was almost like hiding, he's all robotic & he growls too.  He was pretty intimidating, but man, she did NOT like him at all & wanted OUT OF THERE!!!

Ok, enough of the zoo... on to the game... Bonez & Conner's friend Tyson, got to go down & be the between innings entertainment at the OSU Beavers game.  It was some relay type of thing, the cool thing was that they were supposedly on TV, but they also got a free OSU hat.  B was beyond stoked!  They had a blast at the game.  Unfortunately, we didn't get any pics, still trying to figure out how I'm going to scrap that one...

Anyway, we drove home after they got back from the game.  We packed a lot in, but it was worth it & we had a blast.

Sunday was spent at church & then just hanging out as a family.  Monday, we decided to take the kids to the pool.  That won't be happening again, that's for sure!  Let's just say it was fine while it lasted, but not something any of us want to experience again, that's for sure!  What happened you ask... well... the short version is... there was a mob of "people" (oldest being MAYBE 16) no adult supervision whatsoever.  Oh, I'm going to guess there were maybe 20 in this "mob".  Anyway, they were out of control, esp 1 kid.  Lifeguards tried talking to him, he would NOT listen.  Looooong story short, police got called & had to haul him out of the place, I'm going to guess this "kid" was maybe 12 or so, but he was BIG, it took 3 police officers to get him out.  They had him handcuffed & the whole thing.  It was CRAZY!  I did NOT feel safe at all. It took forever to get ahold of a parent.  Anyway, that kind of (no, not kind of, it DID) ruin it for us.  It was gross, these people looked like they had just come in off the street, not one of them were wearing swim clothes, just street clothes, in fact, a few of the kids were just in undies.  NASTY!!!

So, that was our weekend.  It was fun spending so much time with the family.

Time for changes...

Ok, I've been doing some thinking (I know, that could be dangerous). Anyway, I'm spending too much time on the computer, I'm cutting my time way short. Infact, I just deleted the one place I spend the most time, I'm done. I'm not hairflipping, just prioritizing. What better time to do this than at the beginning of summer. My kids will be home, I'm going to spend time with them instead of just being here with them. They're only this age once, I'm going to take advantage of it. I will still keep in touch with my friends, & heaven knows, I'm not giving up IMing, or my blog. I'm just not going to spend hours on here like I have been.

So, there you have it. I've been doing a lot of thinking & praying & this is what I need to do right now. I can't get sucked back in. It's time for me to sit back & really concentrate on my family & also, to decide who it is that I trust & who I can honestly consider my "friend". I've been burned too many times, this last time, well, that was 1 too many, so... I am going to be more guarded from here on out. If you've proven I can trust you, you don't have anything to worry about.

It's time for changes, it's time for ME to take control of MY life. Like a friend of mine told me yesterday... it's time to focus on the positive & to continue moving forward. It's time to live my life for me. It's time to stop giving others the power to take my joy. I need to stop wasting time on those that are trying to "steal" that from me. THEY AREN'T WORTH MY TIME!!!

Yep, things are changing & I'm ready!

Listen, can you hear that...

it's the sound of a quiet house!

Bonez is out of town at a scout campout, I dropped him & a friend off at 4 & he won't be back until sometime tomorrow night.

Tomorrow is C-Man's party, but we had a couple of the boys stay the night tonight to kick it all off.  (Okay, we're really just helping out their families, but it's all good).  I think we tired the boys all out.  My 3 kiddos, & C's best friend, played outside in the water until the other friend arrived, then they all went & played basketball for an hour or so.   They ran around in the house playing hide & seek dart tag in the dark, (crazy kids).  We all watched the end of the Laker game (which we won thankyouverymuch!!!) & then Mike put a movie on for them.  They were all out within minutes.

Ahhhh, bliss I tell you, pure Heavenly bliss.  The only thing I hear is the keyboard as I'm typing & the rattling from the A/C.

I'm enjoying this so much, I think I'll go to bed now.  Let's just hope they all sleep in tomorrow...  I'm not making any bets though.

999, who will be 1000?

I can't believe I've had 999 visitors since I started "counting".  I swear, the last time I looked it was only at like, I don't know, maybe 300 &  something!

So... who's going to be visitor 1000?  Leave me a comment & let me know who you are.

I'm still on cloud 9 about this retreat!  How much fun is this going to be?!  Desi even called me tonight because she's so excited!  I've been chatting with Amanda off & on all day & we both are acting like HS girls all giggly, we're so pathetic! LOL

Ok, I'm outta here.  It's been another great day.  Gotta love days like that.  Bonez is going on his first BOY SCOUT campout this weekend, I'm dropping him off tomorrow afternoon.  That's about the same time Con's unofficial sleepover party will start.  The rest of the party, or I should say, the "real" party will be on Saturday.  It's going to be a busy weekend, but lots of fun.

Oh, & next weekend, I'm taking B & the Princess to my sister's, B gets to go watch the OSU Beavs play baseball, Princess & I will hang out with Goldfish & the girls.  I can't wait.

I'm so excited... come on, sing it with me...

& I just can't hide it...

Ok, WHY am I so excited?!  Because I get to go to my very first SS retreat!!!  Yep, I get to go to the Nor Cal retreat!  I'm BEYOND excited!  I keep going through mixed emotions, I'll be floating on cloud 9, then start panicking, thinking it's not going to work out for some reason.

I got the "okay" from Prince Charming today.  I had read about the retreat & thought it sounded like fun, but realistically, knew it wasn't even an option.  Then today, I was chattin with my good friend & she brought it up & kind of talked me into bringing it up with hubby.  I jokingly said something to him, his response was... "have fun"... ummm... okay... so does this mean I can go then?  I gave him the details & he told me to do it.  WHOO-HOO, I'm SO excited, I can't wrap my head around it.  I'm begging another good friend to drive down with me, how fun would that road trip be?!  She would rather fly, I'm still working on her though! LOL

Ok, I still have 5 months to go, but HOLY COW, this has been a great day!!!

Oh yeah, I had to go in & renew my drivers license today.  I don't have my "real" license yet, I only have a "temporary", but it actually looks like a good picture!!!  I mean, really, a GOOD DL picture?!  I didn't think that was possible!!!

Happy B-Day my sweet boy!

Ok, this has got to be the GOOFIEST picture ever of him, he was just messing around & wouldn't let me take a good picture.  He kept making faces & I said "fine, is that REALLY the pic you want in your scrapbook", he said it was so... thought I would let all of you preview it too!

I'm tellin ya, this one is a goofball.  He has the BEST personality, he always keeps us laughing.

Anyway, we had a great day, I even embarrassed him at school by taking in a balloon while he was at recess & having it tied to his chair when he walked in.  He's such a good sport!

I still can't believe he's in the double digits now, holy cow, that is so weird.  It's been a blast!  Here's hoping for a LOT more great ones C-Man!  Happy Birthday my sweet boy!

Double Digits for C-Man!

C-Man & his "loot"...

His "cool" LeBron shoes...
This shirt is SO true & SO him!!!
The COOLEST shirt EVER!!!
The goofballs celebrating at DQ.  This was their way of telling me "Enough with the pictures already"!!!  We had a lot of fun tonight.  I can't believe he's 10!  Where has the time gone?!

Mother's Day pics...

I just thought I would share a couple of pics M took of the kids & I yesterday.  These were taken right after church.  I had wanted them outside BEFORE church, but well... that didn't happen! :)  After church it was SO windy, there was NO way I was going to even attempt it.  Anyway, we made do with these.  I think the one of all of us turned out pretty good, I was impressed.  The other, I LOVE, it totally shows their personalities.  Bubby was playing around & trying to get the Princess to smile,  at the same time, Daddy was getting her to make her "scary" face.  Isn't she SO scary?! LOL

Blog Challenge: Picture Perfect

And now, here is this week's challenge...

I had a conversation with my friend, Denise, last week and we were talking about our children and their relationship to their Grandpa's. Denise was talking about a special time her son, Garrett had with his Grandpa and how you could just see the love between them.
I love pictures that capture that essence of who we are.
It got me thinking about my own loved ones and how much I treasure those few photos that capture the magic of that person I love.

So the challenge this week is to post a picture of someone you love. It can't be just any picture, it should be one of those pictures that you look at and you really see something about that person.
Once you find that special picture, post it in your blog and tell us what it is that makes it special.

This is not limited to children, or spouses. It is for anyone, even beloved pets.
_______________

I knew, as soon as I read the challenge, what pictures I HAD to use.  These are some of my favorite pictures EVER.  They are of my dad, or "Papa" as he is lovingly referred to by all 10 grandkids, & my little Princess.

You see, my dad wasn't a big "baby" person, (he had never changed a diaper, that was always my mom's job) as us kids were growing up.  We knew how much he loved us, but I don't remember him being all cuddly with me, or really showing that "soft side" all that often.

My dad has the BEST relationship with all of his grandkids, he loves them all so much, but also, has a unique relationship with each of them.  He has a special "song" he sings to my little girl, it touches my heart to hear it.  She just smiles & gets all excited, like she KNOWS it's something special, & just for her.

These are some pics that were taken while we were staying with my parents last year, we happened to have a hockey tourney in Portland so Papa was enjoying some "play time" with the Princess.

And the winner is...

Photobucket
Ok, D has been participating in his schools "running club", the kinders have to run a 1/2 marathon, they run 1 day a week for 15 minutes.  4 times around the playground = 1 mile.  For each mile they run, they earn a "foot", for every 5 miles, they earn a "medallion".  The kids think this is SO cool & LOVE to show off their "earnings".  Well... I knew D was getting close to finishing, but had no idea HOW close!  He came home from school today & couldn't wait to show us his new Marathon T shirt & BIG medallion that he earned TODAY!!!  He didn't understand why I had to take more pics of him when "my teacher just did", but he was a good sport & let me snap 2 quick ones.
Photobucket
Isn't he a cutie?!  He was SO proud of himself for completing the marathon, & ya know something, we are too!!!  Way to go Bubby!

PT: The saga continues...

Photobucket This is what Princess Tornado got into yesterday morning.  She found my eyeliner & decided to "try it out".  I laughed so hard!  I don't think I could draw that straight if I tried & she wasn't even looking in a mirror!
PhotobucketThis was the other "fun" thing she decided to do.  I swear, this child keeps us laughing all day long!  I was doing laundry in the hall, she must have "snuck" a pair of B's boxers, ran into her room & put them on.  The funniest part was HOW she put them on, both legs in 1 side.  Didn't seem to bother her though.

She's a crazy one, she is!  Good thing she's cute!!!

Husband Tag...

I've been tagged with Husband Tag... keep reading to see if YOU have been tagged!

So here we go...

What is his name? Michael, Mike, Prince Charming, & Dad

How long have you been married? 13 years, 14 in August

How long did you date? Not long!!! We "re met" April 1st & got married August 12, although, there wasn't much "dating" going on since we lived 3 hours apart!

How old is he? He is 44, almost 45

Who eats more? He does!

Who said I love you first? I don't know, BUT, I DO know that the first night we were chatting, I said "I don't understand what is going on..." his reply was "I do, you're falling madly, deeply, passionately, head over heels in love with me..." Well, alrighty then!  Wise man, see why I listen to him?!

Who is taller? He is, by 1 foot! It's not hard to be taller than me though, I'm only 5'!

Who sings better? HOLY COW, ME!!! The guy can't carry a tune in a bucket. He's the only person I know that has been asked to NOT sing at church. (Ok, not really, but close).

Who's temper is worse? His. Maybe mine. I don't know, it really depends on what's going on.

Who does the laundry? Me.

Who does the dishes? Me. Although, the older 2 boys have to take turns unloading the dishwasher, I REFUSE to do it.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed (when you are facing it)? Me again.

Who pays the bills? He does, I do NOTHING with the finances. I stress WAY too much, can't deal with it.

Who cooks dinner? This job is mine too. Unless we're having steak, or b bque, then it's his job.

Who mows the lawn? He does. He does all the yard maintenance. I HATE that kind of stuff, our thing has always been, I'll take care of the inside, he'll do the out. It works for us.

Who drives when you are together? He does. I think I've driven maybe 2x. He loves to drive, I don't, so it's perfect.

Who has more friends? Me. I'm WAY more social than he is. He does have a few friends that he does things with on a regular basis, that's good for him, he doesn't "need" more. Oh and if you count my internet friends? He's way behind.

Who has more siblings? Well... there are 4 kids in each of our families, but he has a younger brother that died a few years ago.

Who wears the pants in the family? We make our life changing decisions together, and those that involve the kids. Anything else less trivial? It doesn't really matter. Someone decides and we go with it. But at the same time, I would answer HIM. I love "being taken care of" & not having to deal with all the "other" stuff if that makes sense. We do run things by each other though.

Ok, I'm tagging... Carrie, Goldfish & Brandi.

Continued adventures of Princess Tornado...

HOLY COW, someone, ANYone, PLEASE tell me it's going to be a better day today, PLEASE!

Yesterday started out okay, UNTIL... the Princess woke up.  Actually, she did fine until I went in to take a shower.  I got out & saw a HUGE mess, she had gotten into a "basket" of misc items; (not a big deal, she's played with the stuff before) BUT this time, she had figured out how to open a container of baby powder!!!  Yep, my little Princess had emptied an ENTIRE bottle.  She must have had fun, it wasn't spread all over the room, nope, she just dumped it.  In my shoe, in a little box of cards, in a HUGE pile on the carpet.  UGH!!!  I start calling her, well, she's no dummy, she knows she's in trouble so she stays REALLY quiet.  I continue to call her, she continues to "hide".  Ok, now I'm starting to panic & wonder if she had escaped outside, (remember I had JUST gotten out of the shower) I literally started running all over the house looking for her.  She must have realized at that point, it was better to just come out.  I find her in her room with her little hands behind her back, GUILTY written all across her face.  Ok, I bring her into my room & ask her if she did this.  "No", with the big ol crocodile tears streaming down her little face.  "Princess, did you make this mess?"  "No".  "Roo, who made this mess?"  "Bubby"!!!  It was all I could do to not bust out laughing!  Man this little one learns quickly!

Oh yeah, as I'm talking to her, I realize she's starting to go potty (she had big girl panties on), so I run her into my bathroom, well... little missy had gone poop UGH!!!  Of course, I didn't realize that until I was taking off the panties, needless to say, it was now EVERYWHERE!!!  At this point, I left her on the pot, ran the panties to the kids' bathroom to deal with later.  I FINALLY got some clothes on me & then started my tub.  I threw her in the water (careful NOT to get her hair wet since I of course had already done it & didn't want to have to do it again).  Get the bathroom cleaned up & get her out.

I'm thinking at this point, we're over the worst of it.  Yeah right, not even close!!!

I lay her down for her nap, she keeps getting up, I go in to check on her (ok, to put her BACK in bed...) & her top drawer is open UGH, I go to close it & step in something gooey.  She got into baby lotion!  I get that cleaned up & put her BACK in bed, AGAIN.  I go finish up Con's b day invites with hubby.  At this point, I need to leave for the school, I went to make sure Princess was actually asleep... NOPE, she found ANOTHER FULL bottle of lotion & had decided it would be "oh so much fun" to pour it all out on her carpet!  Oh, but not before she gave herself a "lotion bath".  GRRR!  I stripped her down, threatened her & then set about cleaning up ANOTHER mess.

I'm tellin ya, this child is going to do me in!!!  Yes, there was more, like how I got home to find her still in only a diaper (remember I stripped her down for her nap) with a pretty red picture drawn on her tummy.  How she took off her diaper (so she could go potty) & then escaped out the front door before we could stop her.  Yep, my child was streaking the neighborhood!

She's still sleeping, so I'm hoping this will be a better day!!!

What room...

So, where's the central heartbeat in your house? Is life summed up in your kitchen? Your den? Out on the porch? Maybe you even find your meaning in the laundry room?

Our family room, without a doubt! We literally live in this room, other than the bathrooms, I don't think there's another room in the house that gets used as much! It's right off & open to the kitchen, so even if I'm in there, we're still all together. This is the room where everything happens, tv watching, video game playing, band practice, homework, cuddling, kids wrestling, the place where Princess Tornado's toys seem to migrate, hanging out with friends & family. It really is our "family" room & we love it!

So, what about you, what do you consider your "heartbeat" room?

I have the BEST Hubby EVER!!!

Ok, I've been wanting a little point & shoot, (I already have a big ol camera that I love but), I wanted something small I could just throw in my purse etc. I've been looking & had it narrowed down to 3 that I wanted to really look at. We had decided that when we got our taxes back, I could get one.

Well.... Prince Charming asked me today as I was packing for the weekend, when Mother's Day was, strange question, but okay. Next thing I know, he's bringing in something from his car for Dawsey to give me. HOLY COW... I just got the CUTEST new point & shoot!!! He got me the Nikon Coolpix, it's like a black cherry color & is the cutest thing I've ever seen. (Well, maybe not THE cutest, but close)!

I get to use it this weekend (well, actually for 30 days) to decide if I really like it & if it will work for what I want it for. If it doesn't, it'll go back, no harm, I'll just pick something else out.

Have I told you how much I LOVE my hubby?! Isn't he the BEST?! Happy early Mother's Day to me!!!
