I am thankful for...

Ok, I really wanted a pic to go with this one, but don't have the time to look for one right now. I'll try to add one later, I felt it was more important to get this posted.

I'll warn you right now that this is going to be a "religious" & "political" post, if you feel like closing it now, go for it, you won't offend me (since I'll never know).

I am thankful I live in the USA, I love the fact that I get to vote, that I have a "say" in who leads our country. Now, with that being said, I didn't vote for our new President. No, I'm not mad that he won, I guess if I were to be honest, I would have to say that I'm more afraid, or maybe even terrified. This takes me to my next "point", or what I'm really feeling thankful for today (& well, every day actually). I am so beyond grateful that I have a Heavenly Father that loves his children. That has a hand in EVERYTHING! That KNOWS what he is doing & knows why things are the way they are. Even though I'm scared to see where the country is headed with this new Presidency, I love knowing that I have someone to look to, that is doing His will & will not lead me astray. I am so beyond thankful for our Prophet Thomas S. Monson, for his strength, dedication, & faith. I can't begin to tell you how "safe" I feel knowing he will lead us & help me to stay on the right path. I know without a doubt that if I continue to follow him, things will be okay. Even if the world is "going to hell in a handbasket" as my sister said, we will prevail, we will come out on top. Ok, let me clarify the hell in a handbasket comment...  People aren't bad, just being led astray.  Values that founded our country are being lost and forgotten.  Why should those who work so hard and sacrifice so much to succeed be punished and made to pay for those who won't work for themselves.  I'm all for helping those in need, however, there are so many who make themselves victims.  At some point we need to take responsibility for our own lives and realize that it's the "pursuit" of happiness that's guaranteed, not happiness itself.  (that last part came from part of the conversation my sis & I had, so I'm giving her the credit even though I agree 100%)

I hope & pray that things won't be or get, as bad as I think they will, that I'll be "proven wrong", I really do. I will support the new President of the US, but *I* plan on putting my faith in the Prophet, I think I'll get a lot further & where I really want to be.

I know this got kind of long, sorry, but I feel very blessed to have a modern day Prophet that I can follow.

I love that you're posting what you're thankful for each day. I might start doing this to if you don't mind me copying your idea:) I am so totally scared too, after the election. I usually don't get too into politics until it affects me personally. The way Obama keeps lowering his income level of who will pay more taxes, it's just a matter of time that we're ALL going to be paying for taxes. That stinks! My husband was saying, yeah, just wait, our gross income will go up in the next four years, but our take home will go down from where it is right now. That stinks. What happened to work hard for the american dream and be rewarded for your hard work. I'm starting to wonder...why did we even go to Law school. So Obama can take our money and share it with others. Kinda makes me mad. And the things is, we're are very generous with our money, and help others quite a bit. But I guess we'll let Obama dictate where that extra money goes. I just loved what McCain stood for. The fact that he's served our country for so many years and was a POW. Oh, well, I guess, like you say, someone else is in charge of all things, and we'll just have to see how it all plays out!
